Reading between the lines, some of the things you won’t find on my resume…

I stick around.
I’ve been at my current job for 11 years.
The one before that? Six years.
And before that? Four years.
(And that was back in college, when we’re all supposed to be flighty!)

The point being: If I keep growing, learning, and making an impact…
I’m in it for the long haul.

“I had the pleasure of working with Susie for the first four years of her hotel career — starting at the front desk and going all the way to Assistant General Manager at another property. From creating revenue management spreadsheets to managing our social media accounts, Susie was our resident jack of all trades. As Front Desk Supervisor, she delivered incredible guest service. As Accounting Manager, her attention to detail earned us a record-breaking internal audit score. I have no doubt that she will she continue to excel in all her endeavors, and would recommend her to anyone.”

I see curiosity as a prerequisite for being human — and I tend to take it pretty seriously. No one asked me to become licensed in the Neurology of Equity & Inclusion (I did, and trained my team). No one asked me to finish my degree (I did that too). No one asked me to teach myself enough Python to automate our reporting, or get certified in Design Thinking with AI (and drag my team into that one, too). But it’s just who I am: perpetually curious, occasionally dangerous when overcaffeinated. Next up? Probably beekeeping. Stay tuned.

“Susie is such a rare breed. She was somehow both the best writer on our team and the most advanced Excel user. She'll synthesize a mess of notes into clear insights and top-notch content, deliver an incredibly polished presentation, and also find time to continue her education and learn new tools — or build them herself. Perhaps more importantly, Susie is an empath capable of making room for differing viewpoints. She asks thoughtful questions and carefully considers the implications of decisions big and small. She is well suited to lead teams and marketing initiatives, and I am so grateful I could call her my teammate.”

I pride myself on compelling copy that resonates — sometimes a little too well.

Fun fact: I’ve had not one, but two client websites copied word-for-word by competitors, resulting in actual cease and desist letters. Apparently, imitation really is the sincerest form of flattery…*

*though please feel free to flatter me in other ways. (Flowers, for instance. Or a glowing LinkedIn recommendation. I’m just spitballing.)

“Susie is a talented marketer, adept at leading teams of strategists, creatives, and producers to create a strong strategic position and achieve brand and business goals. At Kinesis, she owned the end-to-end content strategy and execution for our clients and our agency. Her superpower is using copy to make the complicated, compelling and developing channel-right narratives that drive engagement and leads.”

I believe the best leadership shows up in the quiet work: listening, encouraging, challenging, and creating space for people to grow… ideally leaving people stronger, bolder, and more confident than when you met them.

I’m proud to have mentored team members who have gone on to start their own companies, earn doctorates, and lead on bigger stages than mine.

“Susie is an excellent mentor/supervisor for anyone working in marketing/brand content/writing: she is professional, intelligent, efficient, warm, creative, and hard-working. Susie oversaw my work for two years while I was a Strategist at Kinesis—and I am confident that anyone in marketing would be fortunate to work under Susie’s leadership. As a researcher in organizational communication myself, I see Susie setting an example in marketing by effectively telling the stories of organizations and making valuable connections with audiences.”
