About the Business

A Portland icon for over 40 years, Pratt + Larson is a handmade ceramic tile studio, known for enriching spaces through the art and science of tilemaking.

Pratt + Larson is known for their richly glazed, handcrafted tile — and a brand story that blends art, science, and a little bit of magic. With a new visual identity and site design in place, my role was to carry forward the voice of a beloved legacy brand — honoring its history while helping it step confidently into its next chapter.

I was brought in to write the copy for Pratt + Larson’s revamped website. Working closely with the business owners, I helped evolve the voice of a brand known for decades of craftsmanship — infusing it with warmth, elegance, and just a touch of alchemy. From the brand story to product descriptions to in-depth case studies, the language had to match the artistry of the tile itself: tactile, dimensional, and expressive.

Results:

After launch, we saw clear signs that the new voice was resonating. The new copy helped visitors stick around longer (session duration up 17%) and take meaningful action — including 212 showroom inquiries in the first six months, converting at 4.3%.

Pratt + Larson’s tile has been featured in everything from tech headquarters to airport terminals — and I helped tell the stories behind the work. I interviewed designers, uncovered the creative vision, and crafted case studies that captured the personality of each space. The result? A series of narrative-driven features that highlight the brand’s versatility, collaboration, and craftsmanship.
