About the Project
Mixtape is a curated, analog publication created by Kinesis for owner-operated small businesses — the visionary leaders flying under the radar of both corporate and startup-centric advice.
Most business advice is geared toward the bookends of the bell curve: old guard corporate America on one end of the spectrum, startups and solopreneurs on the other. Mixtape is a curated resource designed for the underserved middle — the visionary leaders of owner-operated small businesses. Positioned as “Harvard Business Review for companies under $100MM,” Mixtape exists to share big ideas, foster community, and bring back a sense of connection in an increasingly digital world.
I served as Editor for the inaugural issue of Mixtape — shaping the narrative arc, writing the majority of the content (including several ghostwritten pieces), and weaving together the voices of our team into one cohesive publication. I also acted as project lead, guiding everything from editorial strategy to copy deadlines to final production.
WRITING, EDITING, & PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Mixtape was produced as a limited-edition printed magazine, and made its debut at the Kinesis Catalyst Summit — our annual gathering of forward-thinking business leaders. The magazine aligned with the event’s theme and served as a tangible takeaway, with attendees receiving an exclusive first copy.
It quickly became more than a leave-behind: it sparked hallway conversations, inspired follow-ups, and positioned Kinesis as a true thought leader. After the summit, we expanded distribution to clients and prospects — often with branded packaging and a handwritten note. It became a powerful business development tool, with several leads referencing it as a standout piece that earned their attention and trust.
